Printer Emulations

By emulating PostScript and HP LaserJet printers, Faccent provides the highest level of application and platform compatibility. Virtually every application, regardless of platform and operating system, can directly output to a printer. Faccent provides both high quality and versatile fax conversion through PCL5 fax conversion, and PostScript language compatibility with its full choice of text styles and sizes.

POSTSCRIPT

PostScript and Faccent work together to maximize output quality by providing resolution and device independence, along with the widest choice of typefaces. PostScript is widely used in the graphic arts and printing industry as well as in the office. PostScript files can be generated on many different platforms, including but not limited to MS-Windows, Apple, and Sun workstations.

Features of Postscript:

  • PostScript Level 1 and Level 2 versions
  • built-in typefaces with flexibility to add on
  • international character sets: ISO-8859 (Latin, Greek, Arabic, etc.) and Japanese (Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana)

PCL5

PCL5 is the Page Description Language used by Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printers. The Faccent PCL5 interpreter emulates all features of the HP LaserJet, including macros, downloadable fonts, and HP-GL/2. HP LaserJet printers (and compatibles) dominate the laser printer market, and are supported by virtually every application and computing platform.

Features of PCL:

  • PCL5 including HPGL and raw ASCII
  • built-in typefaces with flexibility to add on
  • international character sets
